Pooks and Jam
I am a mother of two amazing little boys. They are hilarious and energetic, and they are both extremely different and unique individuals. I love to dress them up, I like them to be stylish, and most of all, I want their clothing to reflect their individuality.
Unfortunately, as most mothers of boys have come to find out, clothing options are so very limited for our sweet little boys. In fact, the only time I am ever envious of "girl moms", is when I walk into a children's clothing store to find that the boys section is about a quarter of the size of the girls section, and filled with a very limited array of monotonous jeans, t-shirts and baseball caps. We're lucky to find the occasional fedora, which is so three years ago.
The girls section on the other hand is always filled with a wide range of dresses, skirts, leggings, pants, jeans, and accessories. It is no wonder that us mamas of boys turn to specialty shops to help us dress our little guys with the style and flare that they deserve.
One such shop is Pooks and Jam, which can be found on Etsy.
Monica of Pooks and Jam, is a mom who decided to do something about the lack of variety in boys fashion. She is a full-time mama of two rambunctious, energy-filled boys, James who is four, and her baby Caleb, who is one and a half (pretty much the same ages as my Sweet P and Sky). A high school teacher by day and a seamstress by night, Monica designs and creates all of the adorable kids clothing at her shop, by hand.
She has taken three years to perfect her designs and truly find a niche. "Handmade with Love" is her moto and it shows. She gives each and every piece 110% and treats it as though it was being made for her own little ones.
I'm going to begin with the basics... undies! These undies are anything but basic.
No uncomfortable elastic, lined for wedgie-proof bottoms, and higher waisted for taller boys like my Princeton. Yes, this means no baby Plummer bum!
The fact that these undies are so soft and elastic-free, have made them Princeton's absolute favorites. He has refused to go back to his "standard issue" undies, so we will definitely be placing an undie order in the very near future.
Now, lets move on to Skyler's new romper. I should preface this by saying that I am a romper addict. I love wearing them myself and I especially love rompers on my boys. This makes me a romper snob, which means I am extremely picky. Everything must fit just right!
Monica is a very busy woman, so custom orders are not always in the cards. But, when she does have a little time on her hands, she makes things like this adorable little romper, in just the right size for my tiny tall guy.
One of my favorite things about this romper is the precious tummy pocket. It was the perfect place to store all of the little sticks and stones that Skyler likes to collect on our walks.
This romper is so soft and so comfortable, it is perfect for little guys on the move.
I am a huge fan of Pooks and Jam, but I am also a big fan of Monica, and I'll tell you why.
On her "spare" time, Monica volunteers at her Church and sows clothing for orphans in third-world countries. Wow! She blew my mind with that amazing fact.
When I decided to become a blogger, I had no idea that my writing would help me connect with so many fabulous women, business owners, and mothers. I can wholeheartedly say that it is one of my favorite parts about writing. The people I meet and connect with are all so inspiring, and I am proud to know them.
Monica is no exception.
