B-Underwater Bubble Show
"B-Underwater Bubble Show … or… The unexpected journey of Mr. B in the colorful underwater world of Bubblelandia. Mr. B takes an imaginary journey in the beautiful underwater world where fantasy becomes reality. When Mr. B is transported to the colorful, happy place of Bubblelandia, he finds himself surrounded by seahorses, dragon fish, starfish, mermaids, clown fish and BUBBLES. Using cutting-edge laser technology, snow cannons, soap bubble tornadoes, theatrical fog, and optical illusions, the B-Underwater Bubble Show is an interactive performance that appeals to children and adults alike. With dance, puppetry, juggling, contortionism, sand art, and a little bit of magic, this new show from Latvia is further enhanced by collaborations with some of that country’s biggest talents, with original music by Valdis Zilvers, elaborate costumes by E. Patmalpiece of the Latvian National Opera, and hyper-creative makeup by Marita Gaidele. The special effects and massive LED screens make for a truly immersive “underwater” show, complete with bubble artists Enrico Pezzoli and Dace Pecoli, two of the foremost bubble artists in the world. The pair have collaborated on countless projects since joining forces in 1998, including the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi."
A few months ago, I stumbled upon an ad for the B-Underwater Bubble Show at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons and decided that we had to take Princeton. This was not too long after we took Princeton to see Marvel Universe Live, so I was excited to take him to another live action show, since he was now able to sit through an entire performance.
I was able to get my hands on two tickets, and couldn’t be more excited.
The day finally came, and not a moment too soon. Skyler had been crying, whining, and pushing Princeton's buttons all day, so the boys really needed some time apart. Plus, after a day of giving my full attention to Skyler, while hubby took care of and played with Princeton and Hailey, I missed my big guy.
Princeton and I were both so excited to get ready to go. We got dressed and drove the fifteen minutes from our house to the theatre.
I always forget about the perks for driving away from Hollywood and Downtown LA. As much as I love exploring both, parking costs are always astronomical, finding decent parking is tough and the walk with the kids and all of their belongings is usually a bit stressful. The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center has a free parking lot on property! We pulled up with no hassle, took our time and walked right in.
I felt myself de-stressing immediately. Truly, I felt the weight lift off my shoulders and was able to give my son my complete attention, as well as enjoy the moment.
As we walked into the lobby, we saw a small souvenir station, and a snack bar. There were no lines, just happy kids and parents, leisurely walking around and enjoying their time. We looked at some of the souvenirs, but Princeton decided against purchasing any of the fishy hats.
Time to get to our seats.
There was not a bad seat in the entire theatre. It was small and intimate, and Princeton and I got comfy right away. The show started on time, so we really had no wait time at all. So smooth!
The show began with Mr. B, a mime, playing a businessman in a trench coat and fedora, carrying a briefcase, and having to answer three of four cell phones at one time. It transitioned from his busy city life to the imaginary and beautiful underwater world.
Princeton thought Mr. B was pretty suspect. To be fair, Mr. B was wearing a slightly creepy face mask, which brought on questions like “Mama…. Is Mr. B a bad guy”. After assuring him that Mr. B was a good guy, Princeton settled in to enjoy the spectacular laser show and all of the fun underwater characters who periodically came out into the audience to interact with the kids.
He was in awe of all of the fantastic sea creatures on stage and off, and really enjoyed the bubbles. For me, watching him and hearing his interpretation of what was happening around him, was worth every minute.
He thought the bubble makers made "cool bubbles", but really enjoyed the skits in between the actual bubble show most.
It was a wonderful escape from reality and into the cool underwater world of Bubblelandia for Princeton and I. We truly just enjoyed each other's company and had a lovely time.
