A Weekend in Costa Mesa
As Angelinos, we often travel behind the "Orange Curtain" to Orange Country, CA. It is rare, however, that we travel too far past Anaheim because, well, Disneyland. I mean, is there even a point going any farther? I'm here to tell you, yes there is. Absolutely!
A few weeks ago, several girlfriends and I were invited to a fun "mom's only" weekend in Costa Mesa, CA. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the perfect getaway. Far enough to feel like we were away, yet only about 20 minutes past Anaheim, CA. Ideal is a word that comes to mind.
With its southernmost border only one mile from the Pacific Ocean, Costa Mesa is a mecca for the arts and theater, and a renowned dining destination, garnering national recognition and offering award-nominated and celebrity chefs. It is a world-class fashion destination and is home to the South Coast Plaza, a global shopping destination with more than 250 extraordinary boutiques and critically acclaimed restaurants. Costa Mesa is also home to the OC Fair & Event Center, which hosts the annual Orange County Fair, one of the largest in the United States.
The ladies and I were wined and dined by Travel Costa Mesa, and gifted THE coolest swag by the gorgeous Kathy Copcutt of Bel Air Mommie.
Accommodations
The weekend began with a stay at the Costa Mesa Marriott. Located in the Business District, this property is a 10 minute walk from the South Coast Plaza, The Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and The Observatory.

Let's start with the gorgeous accommodations.
This Deluxe Water View Suite is exactly what I needed for the weekend. Spacious, yet cozy, comfortable, yet chick. The view is beautiful, and I was able to kick off my shoes and relax, and also get quite a bit of work done.
There was even enough space for the ladies and I to get together in one of the rooms for a little fun before we headed out for the evening.
All suites feature refrigerators and flat-screen televisions. The beds come with down comforters and premium bedding. Rooms have private balconies. Cable programming provides entertainment, and wired and wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge. Private bathrooms with shower/tub combinations feature complimentary toiletries and hair dryers.
I absolutely loved having my coffee on the balcony overlooking the water every morning after an amazing night of uninterrupted sleep.

Dining
Nothing gets the night started quite like a delicious dinner and drinks with friends.
We were treated to a scrumptious tasting menu at Tableau Kitchen and Bar. A lovely Asian Fusion restaurant located at the South Coast Plaza.
From the charcuterie, to the oysters and the muscles, to the persimmon burrata salad, to the wonderful spin on fried chicken… and their desserts, our meal set the wonderful tone for our night.
I was delighted to find that this type of upscale dining exists inside the South Coast Plaza as it’s exactly the type of place I can see myself eating with my girlfriends, husband or my mama, mid shopping excursion. None of that food court business for us!

If a French Patiserrie is not your thing, are we even friends?
I fell in love with Moulin, a French Patisserie that stole my heart by way of my stomach.
Let’s state the obvious, their selection of breads and pastries is second to none and will have you salivating before you can even gather yourself long enough to make a choice. Making a choice is difficult, so you might as well splurge and try one of everything.
In all seriousness, once you can gather yourself post all of the excitement, try one of their delicious coffees and a baguette sandwich. I had the salami. I only intended on having about half the sandwich, but could not stop myself from eating the entire thing.
I could eat at Moulin every day and be the happiest woman alive.
Moulin is another lovely restaurant located on the South Coast Plaza grounds, however it is not attached.
Take a look at our lovely brunch HERE.
I must entice you with a few photos of their selections...
Entertainment
The Segerstrom Center for the Arts simply took my breath away. The world-class performing arts center and a dedicated arts campus showcases local and regional performing arts organizations and esteemed guest artists and companies from all over the world.
It is massive and beautiful, and I felt extremely lucky to be treated to an evening at this stunning venue, enjoying Wicked with a group of wonderful friends.
It was a night to be remembered. I was once again astounded with the rich and vibrant arts and theater scene in Costa Mesa, CA.
We wined, we dined, we went to the theater and shopped to our heart's content. It was the perfect weekend getaway and I cannot wait to do it again soon.
