Kids Raised With Music
As I sit here in my bedroom working, I can't help but smile hearing Rag and Bone Man's "Human" blasting from my 6 year-old's bedroom room.
Princeton dropped his daytime naps a few years ago, but he still goes to his room to relax and do his own thing midday. Lately, his own thing has been asking our Amazon Alexa to play his favorite songs. He has private dance parties, to which I am no longer invited (we'll touch on that later... ouch). Nothing gives me greater pleasure than hearing him belt out "I'm only human, I make mistakes, I'm only human, that's all it takes, to put the blame on me, don't put the blame on me!" and sneak a peak at his newest dance moves through his monitor (Yes, we still have a monitor in his room. No, we don't intend to rid him of it until he asks ).
Early on, whenever our day would start to go south, I would crank up some of my favorite tunes and as well as anything we stumbled upon that we could dance or rock out too. Princeton and I had ourselves some epic dance parties, as Skyler dreamily rocked in his baby swing. All bad moods would quickly dissipate, and laughter ensued.
Of course now, I get asked to sit down. Who me? Bitter? Nooooo!
I'm no longer allowed to join the dance parties, because our 6 year old is a miniature teenager, who thinks "mommy is wack"(His words, not mine). He's got a much better dance party partner in Skyler, who's known to cut the rug with his own fantastic dance moves. Together, they have some serious dance-a-thons. It's so much fun watching the two of them dancing and having fun, developing their own taste for music.
Knowing that my hubby and I have raised our kids with music brings me so much joy.
It makes me happy that our kids can turn to music to lift their spirits, or to help them settle down.
And let me just tell you how precious it is when they run around singing "I will give you the world, Baby Girl, you just gotta be worth it..." I mean, that's worth the price of admission.
So, I have compiled a list of some of our kid's favorite songs. A sampling, if you will.

Love this! We are also a very musically inclined family and have regular family dance parties! My daughter still think mom and dad are cool, but she is turning 4 Saturday...
Ok I’m picturing him and how cute! Love this list. I’m definitely going to download it for our little dancer at home
I love this playlist! And I feel you on the no longer being invited to the dance party. I just have my own dance party in the kitchen. LOL
