Palm Springs for Families

Palm Springs Family Guide

Escaping the LA Fires: A Family Getaway to Palm Springs

Sometimes, life gives you a very clear sign that it’s time to pack up and go. This time, the sign came in the form of toxic air, relentless winds, and a city cloaked in smoke. The LA fires had turned the air quality into something straight out of a post-apocalyptic movie—except this wasn’t fiction, and we weren’t about to stick around for the sequel.

The kids were sneezing, my eyes wouldn’t stop burning, and stepping outside felt like walking into an ashtray. We needed fresh air, blue skies, and a place where we could actually take a deep breath without regretting it. So, we did what any sensible family would do—we threw some bags in the car and headed for Palm Springs.

But this wasn’t just about escaping; we were also on a mission. The Palm Springs Mommy Blogger Tribe had been collecting donations for families affected by the fires, and we were picking up much-needed supplies. It was one of those moments where you realize just how strong and supportive the mom community can be.

Family Friendly Accommodations

The moment we pulled up to Palm Springs Tennis Club by Vacation Escapes, I knew we were in for a treat. This place was exactly what we needed—peaceful, family-friendly, and with all the cozy vibes we were craving. A two bedroom suite with full kitchen, two bathrooms and plenty of space for the entire family.

  • The Master Bedroom: A king-sized bed, an en-suite bathroom, and patio access. Waking up to mountain views? Yes, please.

  • The Boys’ Room: Two twin beds that they immediately claimed as “the best beds ever” (kids have a way of making everything sound like an Olympic event).

  • Living & Dining Space: A comfy living room, dedicated dining area, and a full kitchen where we could cook our own meals. (Translation: No one had to put on shoes to eat. Win!)

  • Gas Fireplace: Every night, after long days of exploring, we curled up by the fireplace—warm, happy, and just the right amount of exhausted.

  • Pools & Amenities: Let’s be real—the kids could have spent the entire trip in the heated pools and called it a vacation. But with tennis courts, hot tubs, and plenty of space to roam, there was never a dull moment.

From Sunshine to Snow in 10 Minutes

If you ever want to blow your kids’ minds, take them on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. One minute, we were soaking up the sunshine in tank tops, and 10 minutes later, we were hiking through snow.

Their reactions? Princeton: “How did we just time travel?” Skyler: “It’s science, bro.”

We had an absolute blast. Snowball fights, snowy hikes, and the kind of breathtaking mountain views that remind you just how beautiful California really is. Watch video HERE

A Fancy Little Surprise: Canopy Wine Lounge

Let’s talk about Canopy Wine Lounge. Right in the middle of Downtown Palm Springs and only minutes away from our hotel, this place was a total vibe—relaxed, welcoming, and with a wine list that made me very happy. But the real surprise? The boys decided to try caviar and one of them absolutely loved it! I have to say, it was hard for me to get past the incredible the appetizers. We started off with caviar and a three tier charcuterie board, so by the time our entrees arrived, I could not imagine eating another bite. Oh but I did - we ALL did. The kids enjoyed the fried chicken sliders and the spinach lasagna, while we had the short rips and the fried green tomatoes. Everything was made to perfection.

Of course we had to end the meal with delicious desserts. It was a feast and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Palm Springs.

Exploring the Salton Sea: Weird, Wonderful, and a Little Wild

One of our most unexpected adventures was a day trip to the Salton Sea. It’s one of those places that feels like a mix of history, art, and a sci-fi movie set. We wandered through Bombay Beach, checked out the funky art installations, and then made our way to the Mud Volcanoes.

Nothing—and I mean nothing—will make a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old more excited than bubbling, steaming mud mounds. It was equal parts fascinating and slightly alarming, but 10/10 would recommend.

Family Friendly Palm Springs

What started as an escape from smoke and chaos turned into one of the best trips we’ve had in a long time. Palm Springs gave us a chance to breathe, explore, and just be together. From warming up by the fireplace to freezing in the snow, from trying caviar to dodging mud eruptions—it was a trip full of unexpected joys, much-needed laughs, and memories we’ll hold onto forever.

And best of all? We got to help families in need along the way.
